MPs to be Taxed!

Finally there is a debate that more people are anxious to know the outcome! when? I don’t know…but whatever the case the Kenyan MP’s, the best paid compared to even Western countries, should start giving back to the government that they serve and reap benefits from….I say benefits with a lot of bitter taste in my mouth because the meaning is relative….in the sense that the benefits translate to prestige, which means more influence, influence that mostly distorts some of the functioning of the political institutions!

Anyway, they should pay taxes, they should happily pay taxes than the common man i.e. the “average Joe six pack”, the guy that does a lot of manual labor but never sees the “benefits” of their humble titles. They should pay taxes as an example to the tax evaders in our country and be governed by the same tax evasion laws that KRA- Kenya Revenue Authority is lax about enforcing! They should pay taxes because they are not above the law…..lest it divides the Kenyan people into two groups…the untouchables and the touchable….

They should pay taxes because they have mind boggling allowances that makes their Gross monthly take home a ridiculous pay for a an emerging democracy, like Kenya!……or even look at it as a way to avoid crying for handouts from the western country!…I know most people will say that this taxes monies will amount to ‘pesa kidogo’….is you are one limping skeptic, please be reminded of “kibaba kibaba hujaza …….”..am sure you remember the saying!

These tax monies should benefit special programs to eradicate slums and feed the poor….must be selfish have an allowance of over Ksh. 400,000 yet you electorate are crying to have clean piped water, electricity, good roads, security, jobs, a meal at the end of the day, you name it! How do these people sleep I ask with these problems in our country?…And don’t tell me the Grand Coalition will do anything because, it’s bloated in the first place..so tell me something I don’t know already!….I hope ya’ll reading!
